  21. I solve this problem on my A1200 w/ Seagate 2.5" 1992 vintage (it happens
  22. when I leave the machine off for more than a few days and the weather's
  23. cold) by running a MemCheck program that accesses all the chips and warms
  24. the inside of the computer up sufficiently for the drive to free in a
  25. couple of hours or so.  It seems safer than hitting or directly heating
  26. the drive.
